The interplay of circle and square embodied the cosmic concept of Heaven and Earth, symbolizing both time and space, as well as the harmony between the Way of Heaven and the realm of man.
Within this sacred geometry, three rabbits run in an endless chase, sharing three ears among them, yet each appearing to have two—a masterpiece of artistic ingenuity. Is it a clever visual illusion, a reflection of the ceaseless cycle of the cosmos, or a metaphor for the turning of the four seasons within the square of order—a glimpse of infinite freedom within finite bounds, and perhaps even a path linking the mortal world to the celestial?

The pattern originates from the "Tang Dynasty Gold-embroidered Lotus Flower Silk" unearthed from the underground palace of Famen Temple. The lotus flower was an exclusive pattern of the Tang Dynasty royal family, incorporating elements such as lotus, peony, and honeysuckle, symbolizing "wealth and good fortune." The gold-embroidery technique, which involves weaving with gold thread, is extremely time-consuming and represents the pinnacle of Tang Dynasty silk weaving techniques.
Design Transformation
The design team extracted the core outline of the lotus flower pattern by scanning the cultural relics with high-definition scans, simplified the complex scroll pattern (to fit the size of the scarf), and retained the 'eight-petal lotus flower + beaded pattern' structure; using modern gold thread embroidery techniques, they restored the luxurious texture of Tang Dynasty gold embroidery.
